Make Light Work of Grease and Grime
I’m a big fan of Muc-Off and have reviewed many of the company’s products over the years. Last month they sent me a couple of cans of their new High-Pressure Quick-Drying chain degreaser to test. It comes in a huge 750ml (25.3 fl. oz.) can that provides high-pressure turbo-spray action. The heavy-duty formula cuts through dirt and grime with virtually no effort. In addition, per the company, the unique quick dry ‘zero residue’ formula evaporates after application to leave components clean and dry with no need to rinse after use.
I was a bit skeptical and watched the video that came with the media kit where they demo spraying the degreaser on components that are both on and off the bike. I cringed when I saw the spray going everywhere. Personally, I worry about grease coming off the components and getting onto the frame, brakes, etc. So I reached out to the Muc-Off rep for clarification, and he said it was safe to leave the components on the bike. Then I asked my mechanic who used this and other Muc-Off products. He agreed with me to only use it when the components were off the bike or put a rag between the component you’re degreasing and the bike. I highly suggest taking the wheels off, too. If you want to keep the wheels on, Muc-Off disc brake covers will come in handy.
The spray nozzle concentrates the degreaser to a small area and allows me to test the product a couple of different ways:
- Spray a rag and wipe components
- Spray directly onto the components (chain, cassette, and jockey wheels) with wheels off and a rag protecting frame

Spraying a rag worked well for several components, including the chain, but this method didn’t allow the degreaser to get down inside the links to clean. Spraying directly on the components worked the best. It cut through the greasy grime, making it almost effortless to get the components clean. The degreaser works on all components such as chains, cassettes, derailleurs and is also safe to use on E-bikes.
Bottom Line
You can clean the toughest grease and grime off your bicycle components with Muc-Off’s new High-Pressure Quick-Drying Chain Degreaser. It even cuts through waterproof grease and chain lube. The dry ‘zero residue’ formula evaporates after cleaning, leaving your components clean and looking great.
