Quick Tip: Muc-Off Disc Brake Covers

By Sheri Rosenbaum

If you have a bike with disc brakes, here’s a product to help protect them during cleaning or shipping. Muc-Off’s new Disc Brake Rotor Covers. They come in a package of 2 for $29.99. They’re easy to use. After washing your bike, separate the base plate from the neoprene cover. It goes around the hub axle and sandwiches the rotor between the two plates securing with Velcro. Once they are covered, you can spray protectants, polishes or lube without fear of getting it on the rotor or pads. After using the covers, rinse with water and hang dry.

You can also use them to cover your rotors when transporting the bike. It fits both road and MTB bikes.

View a How To video below. You can purchase Muc-Off disc brake rotor covers online or from your LBS.

I just got these about a month before this review. I’m an unfortunate example of what not to do. I would clean and spray my bike as usual but I had purchase inexpensive disc brake bike. Well, contamination is a real thing! And just a little bit of oil spray completely screwed up the rotor and pads. These covers work! Don’t hesitate on this purchase if you have a disc brake bike and you have ever contaminated your stoppers. I have no connection to this company I just want my fellow writers to enjoy not having to reinvent the wheel and take one for the team.
