Introduction from Lars

Hello! My name is Lars Hundley, and I’m the new publisher of Road Bike Rider.

Like many of you, I have been an RBR reader for years and years. If you aren’t aware, Road Bike Rider was started way back in 2001 by Ed Pavelka. I am excited to now become the publisher, taking over from John Marsh, who did an outstanding job with it for the previous 7+ years.

I’ve been an avid cyclist since the late 1980s, and was once an editor in the early 1990s at the now defunct magazine, Texas Bicyclist.

Here’s a picture of me wearing my Texas Bicyclist press pass with Phil Liggett in North Carolina at the Tour DuPont in 1993! We both look pretty young, wouldn’t you say?

One of my favorite parts of the week has always been Thursday mornings, when the new RBR newsletter arrives. So you can imagine that my primary goal is to continue on with the newsletter much as it already is. The outstanding contributors you already know and enjoy will still be here.

I hope to continue on with the work of building a meaningful community of fellow cyclists and create new ways that we can keep in touch and encourage each other.

I’ve created a Strava Club for readers and contributors that I hope you’ll consider joining if you use Strava. I think it would be motivating and a lot of fun to see the real life rides that all of the readers are doing each week.

See the brand new Strava Club here: https://www.strava.com/clubs/432068

We’ll also actively share fun and informative cycling content from around the web on the Facebook page that will be different than the newsletter. If you haven’t liked or followed the page yet, I recommend it!

See our Facebook Page here: https://www.facebook.com/RoadBikeRider/

There’s even a Pinterest page, here: https://www.pinterest.com/roadbikerider/

I’m still figuring out how to work the controls, but should hopefully get better and better at learning how the site works over time. Hopefully I won’t break anything!

    Hi Lars
Am I the only one who did not receive a newsletter on either of my email accounts today? Do I have to re-sign up? I’m a premium member, did this contribute to the snafu?
Sorry to welcome you with a problem!

Welcome Lars! My email arrived just fine; however, the header link took me to the Feb 8 issue rather than to the current 2/22 version on the website

Good Morning Lars Congratulations and good luck ! I usually just click on the main articles to read those, but did click on the main body of the email and it takes you to Issue 796 rather than the current version. Just a hiccup !

Welcome from another Texan who started riding road in the late 80’s. I’m looking forward to your future content.

Welcome aboard. Can you provide an update on old Ed Pavelka? Just wondering if he is still out there turning the cranks. Thanks!

Welcome Lars. I, too, started riding in the late 80’s and haven’t stopped. I look forward to the improvements you will make to an already great publication.

Did it still not arrive? I checked, and I am showing that it went out and was delivered to the same number of emails as usual and also went out to the premium members.

Hi T.J. – I was chatting with Ed last week and am happy to report that he’s recovering nicely from his second hip replacement and looking forward to getting in more miles this year.
