Show Your Lips Some TLC

Long hours in the saddle means exposing your body to the harmful rays of the sun. As someone who has had skin cancer before, I’m religious about using sunscreen from head to toe, including my lips. Team Zealios, the same company that produces products I’ve reviewed in the past, including Sun Barrier sunscreen, Betwixt Chamois Cream, and Race Relief Cold Therapy Muscle gel, just launched LipGuard, an SPF 28 broad spectrum lip balm. Check your current lip balm, and I bet it doesn’t have sunscreen.

I tested the new lip balm on long rides as well as a half-day kayaking trip. It goes on clear, instant absorption and is long-lasting. Because it provides UVA and UVB protection, my lips never got chapped or burned. The shea butter, coconut, and jojoba oils provide moisture and prevent drying. It is also free of parabens and artificial flavors.

LipGuard comes in a 0.25 oz. squeeze tube and lip applicator that fits easily into a jersey pocket or bento bag and costs $6.95 for a single tube or $19.80 for a 3 pack. While I only tested LipGuard during the summer, I’m confident this will be an excellent product for winter sports protection, too.

Not convinced you need SPF protection for your lips? Read the Team Zealios blog about skin cancer and lips.
