Tifosi’s Breast Cancer Awareness Collection Supports Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation

Jim’s Tech Talk

By Jim Langley

Here at RoadBikeRider a few of us are big fans of Tifosi, the company and their eyewear. They’re a family run firm based in Georgia, USA and all of their glasses sell for under $100 (most pairs are a lot less than that).

The big news is that they recently announced a collection of Tifosi eyewear and a portion of the sales will go to support the fight to end breast cancer at the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. Because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you might want a pair of these special pink glasses to wear while you show your support perhaps in an awareness ride or event.

The news release about the new collection and cooperating with the Lynn Sage Foundation is below. But first, in case you haven’t tried Tifosi glasses here are some of our reviews on the Tifosis we’ve tested.

For years I’ve depended on a pair of Tifosi Veloce glasses that have built in readers at the bottom of the lenses. Even more important than allowing me to read my digital devices, these magnifiers let me clearly see when I’m fixing bikes for friends on rides.

Since I somehow manage to lose my cycling glasses regularly, my favorite thing about them is that even with the readers they only cost about $50. Here’s my review: https://www.roadbikerider.com/product-review-tifosi-veloce-light-night-fototec-reader-glasses/. Here’s a link to the glasses.

By far, the editor with the most Tifosi using experience here is Sheri Rosenbaum. Here’s her recent review of their popular Rail models which are notable because they’re full-coverage shield-type glasses, which provide more protection from the sun, bugs and debris.

I’ve been riding with the Rail glasses and with the slightly smaller Rail Race (left/right respectively in the photo). They don’t come with readers but my sight has improved and I no longer need them. I’ve been mostly using my Rails on gravel rides where more coverage is a great thing. Since there’s no frame, they’re light on the face and the optics are excellent with no distortion. For full details please see Sheri’s review.

Tifosi’s Support of Breast Cancer Research and Outreach

Tifosi Optics is proud to reintroduce the brand’s Breast Cancer Awareness Collection in support of the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. The popular collection features pink colorways in Tifosi’s most popular active-lifestyle eyewear and a portion of proceeds from each sunglass sold will further the Foundation’s work in breast cancer research and education outreach. Tifosi’s 2022 initiative raised over $3,000 for the organization and the collection sold out by mid-October.

Similar to 2022, Tifosi will launch the Breast Cancer Awareness collection ahead of October–the national month designated to raising awareness around breast cancer. This advanced release offers advocates an opportunity to purchase and wear stylish pink colorways in time for supporting events, including breast cancer runs, bike-a-thons, and fundraising events. The advanced sale period will also generate additional donations for the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation.

“Tifosi strongly supports the mission of the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation,” commented Tifosi Founder and Owner, Elizabeth Earley. “Based on the success of last year’s Awareness Collection, we’re excited to maximize donations from every sale, and raise awareness for their impactful work,” Earley continued.

Since 1985 the Chicago based Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation has raised over $40 million, investing the funds in scholarship programs, research grants, symposiums, and fellowships both locally and globally.

“Tifosi stands for Super-Fan in Italian and we, at the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation, are super-fans of Tifosi!” commented Laura Sage, daughter of Lynn Sage and founder of the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. “Their enthusiastic support of our goals to prevent, treat and eradicate breast cancer are unparalleled. And, their sunglasses are durable, fashionable and sporty. I can’t wait to see our marathon team wearing Tifosi glasses as they cross the finish line!”

Tifosi’s Breast Cancer Awareness Collection will be available for purchase through select authorized retailers and online at www.tifosioptics.com on September 15th, 2023. Years ago I had a $45 pair of Tifosi glasses fall apart in my hand after less than a year of use (and no abuse).
I’ve since discovered safety glasses in various tints with reading-glass magnification in the lower part of the lens (1.5, 2.0 or 2.5x) for under $10. safetyglassesusa.com
