Fixing a Small Cut in Your Tire

This one’s for the 43% of you who replied to last week’s Question of the Week saying you’re either “Closer to Penny-pincher than spendthrift” or “Penny-pincher. I try to get maximum life from all products.”

It comes to us from regular contributor Coach Rick Schultz, author of Bike Fit 101: Your Toolset for a Great Bike Fit. Here’s what he writes:

This can be done leaving everything on the bike.

The trick is to deflate the tire completely, then pinch the slash to open it up. Put a drop or two of Superglue into the slash, then use some masking tape or blue painters tape to make sure it stays sealed overnight.

Next morning, remove the tape and pump up the tire. If done right, you won’t even see the slash anymore.

If you have an idea for a QT, fire away. We’re always looking for good info we can share with fellow roadies. We would love to hear from you with any suggestions you have. Contact us by clicking Quick Tips Ideas.
