Dry Feet Are Happy Feet

Spring is coming and that means rainy road and gravel rides. Keeping your feet dry is crucial to staying comfortable and warm. Endura recently launched their line of Hummvee Waterproof Socks II. These socks are a great alternative to shoe covers or heavy boots and are thin enough to fit inside your road shoes.

The Hummvee is comprised of 3-layer construction, providing warmth, durability, and a waterproof barrier to keep your feet dry. The outer layer and soft inner layer sandwiching a breathable waterproof membrane that allows sweat to escape while blocking water from getting in.

I tested these socks on a snowy, slushy fat bike ride. I was wearing hiking boots that were not waterproof. By the end of the ride, the boot was pretty well soaked and snow found its way inside by the ankle. Even after two hours of riding, my feet were warm and dry inside the Hummvee socks.

Sizes for the Hummvee are S/M and L/XL which I feel are too broad of a range to get a perfect fit. If you wear a size 10 shoe the sock can be a little roomy since the size range is 9.5-13. I hope with version III the company will do away with only two sizes and break it out into individual S, M, L, and XL to provide for a better fit.
