Today’s QT comes to us from Premium Member Greg Titus, who writes:
A while back, there was a QT about keeping your spare tube wrapped in an old sock to protect it. Here’s a twist on that idea: Wrap the tube in aluminum foil.
I don’t ride with a saddle bag, so I just have my spare tube strapped underneath my saddle. Whenever I ride in wet conditions, sand and grit get splashed onto the tube, which I later have to clean off because I figure it wouldn’t be good to put that dirty, gritty tube into a tire if I’m changing a flat on the road.
The aluminum foil makes a great, inexpensive and very light shield to keep the tube clean and ready for use. Looks a little weird, though.
