Use a Carpenter’s Clamp to Hold Brakes When Adjusting

Today’s QTcomes to us from Premium Member John Elmblad, who followed up on a recent tip about using an old piece of innertube to hold brake calipers together when making adjustments with his CarpentersClamponBrakes.WEBown method of accomplishing the same thing. John wrote:

A carpenter’s quick clamp works well for holding brake pads against the rim while adjusting the cable. Screw the barrel adjuster out, clamp the pads hard to the rim, and set the cable. Release the clamp and screw in the barrel adjuster.

If you have an idea for a QT, fire away. We’re always looking for good info we can share with fellow roadies. We would love to hear from you with any suggestions you have. Contact us by clicking Quick Tips Ideas.
