Use Hair Conditioner Instead of Shaving Cream

Today’s QT comes to us from Premium Member John Tonetti, who offers a suggestion for an alternative to shaving cream or gel for those riders who shave your legs.

Here’s what John wrote:

Hair conditioner makes a great shaving cream for cyclists who shave their legs.

Not only does it prevent razor burn, but when you miss spots, it makes the hair softer and more manageable. [Add winking emoji here!]

I got the tip from a lady cyclist I know.

I’ve used both, but went back to shaving cream, mainly because with shaving cream it’s MUCH easier to see where shaver blades have been. Much less chance of missing areas, especially on the backs of the legs.

Save your money. Because if you aren’t good enough to be in the world’s top 100 riders, I don’t think shaving yout legs is gonna help. Not sure if it even can help them.

I use hair conditioner all the time for shaving. I run my hands down my legs and in that way can find which areas need to be shaven. I also find it moisturizes better and keeps my skin softer. Shaving cream is drying and can sting.

It’s not about saving/spending money, and it’s certainly not about being one of the top 100 riders in the world…do some research, man.
