Today’s QT comes to us from Premium Member Jack Elias, whose tip follows on the heels of our last couple of Quick Tips about making tire mounting easier. Jack writes:
“Concerning the recent QT titled ‘Tire Mounting Tips on Tubeless-Compatible Rims,’ I’ve had excellent results using the Kool-Stop Tire Bead Jack With Handle (see photo). It is a relatively-large tool, best for home use, but that’s when new tires are the hardest to install.”
The tool description from the Kool Stop site: “The Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack is an articulated tool, with a comfortable grip, for installing really tight tires. The articulated end uses the rigid piece against the rim edge as a fulcrum while the hinged end lifts the bead up and over the opposite edge of the rim. This is a great tool for dealing with difficult tires.”
Just Google Kool-Stop Tire Bead Jack for a number of online outlets. It typically sells for about $12.
