Quick Tip: Keep a Whiteboard Handy to Record Needed Bike Maintenance

I have a white board by my work bench. When I finish my ride I write down anything that needs to be done to the bike.

I don’t usually feel like working on it right after a ride and will only remember it right before the next ride if I don’t write it down.

This process allows me to wander in there anytime and see the board to remind myself what I need to do in terms of any maintenance and repair before my next ride. So I have plenty of time to do it, and don’t try to rush it right before a ride. That often results in haphazard work, or worse, realizing I don’t have a needed part or accessory to complete the repair.

When I’m done with that particular task, done well in advance of my planned ride, I simply erase it from the board.

Great idea to keep a ‘wrenching to do list’, especially if you have multiple bikes in the family. The time to remember that maintenance task you’ve been putting off is NOT when you have a mechanical 25 miles from home.
