Review Round-up: Topeak Accessories

By Sheri Rosenbaum

Topeak is known for its innovative, high quality, and affordably priced products. Over the years, I’ve reviewed several accessories from the company. Recently, Topeak launched some new computer mounts, multi-tools, and bottle cages which we’ve selected a few to highlight here. All items featured were samples provided by the company and are available online or in retail stores.

Out-in-Front Mounts

UTF Multi-Mount for Integrated Cockpits (EXT. 120) & (EXT. 150)

If you have a bike with an integrated cockpit, this new computer/camera/light mount from Topeak is worth a look. The adjustable length allows for different mounting positions to accommodate various sizes of computers. A bottom SC adapter is ideal for a GoPro or light, allowing for either to pivot into the correct position.

Topeak provides in the box a rubber pad (shown above) to go between the handlebars and mount to prevent scratching the carbon.

UTF Multi-Mount for 0.254 – 31.8mm Handlebars

This out-in-front multi-mount attaches to the handlebars and uses a flip-flop mount providing two height options for custom viewing. Like the integrated handlebar mount listed above, you can mount various cycling computers, smartphones, cameras, and lights.

Included in the box is a RideCase adapter allowing for viewing your cell phone in landscape or portrait.

Multi-Tools

Ninja Master+ Toolbox PT30

The Ninja Master+ Toolbox PT30 has 30 functions that are perfect for road or trailside repairs and with more people running tubeless tires, this multi-tool is ideal with its plug insertion tool. The Ninja is in the product name because the included waterproof storage box attaches to the bottom of a Ninja Master+ series water bottle cage. The box also installs on the bike frame, seat post, or stem using the included frame mount and zip ties. If you don’t require one of your water bottle cages, the frame mount fastens to the frame with two bolts to carry the box and tool.

A variety of options for mounting the PT30 to your bike.

If you’re not familiar with the Ninja Master+ series, bottle cages, Topeak designed several accessories that attach to the bottom of the cage, reducing what needs to be stuffed in a saddlebag or jersey pocket.

Another unique feature of this multi-tool is the master link pliers, which generally aren’t included. Having these pliers could help you out on the side of the road when fixing a broken chain.

While the PT30 is on the heavy side, it does have virtually everything you need to get you rolling again after a mechanical out in the middle of nowhere or a few miles from your house.

Price: $77.95

Tubi 18

Another excellent option for those riding tubeless tires is the Tubi 18. This 18 function mini tool has virtually everything you need to repair a tubeless tire. A compartment integrated into the Tubi 18 houses repair plugs, also known as ‘bacon strips.’

If you’ve experienced a puncture on a tubeless tire and it’s too large for the sealant to plug, you know it’s essential to quickly stop the loss of tire pressure. A detachable air-stop tool is part of the Tubi 18 arsenal. Also included is a tool stop to keep the plug from being pulled out of the tire when removing the tool. And lastly, a saw to cut off the ends of the plug for a nice clean repair.

Air-stop tool stops tire pressure loss. Plug hole with tool. Saw off ends of plug.
