Pinebury Introduces Ultralight Summer Wool Cycling Jerseys and Tees

news

Pinebury, an outdoor apparel brand, has introduced its Summer Wool Collection, featuring ultralight cycling jerseys and performance tees made with Nuyarn merino wool. The collection aims to provide performance and comfort during hot weather activities.

The Pinebury Summer Wool Collection utilizes Nuyarn’s spinning technology, which creates a lightweight, high-performance fabric with a weight of just 100 gsm (grams per square meter). This ultralight merino wool material is designed to offer enhanced durability, elasticity, and faster drying times compared to traditional wool fabrics.

According to Nuyarn, their technology allows for the creation of fabrics that are 8.8 times more durable and have 85% more elasticity than conventional wool. The company also claims that the fabric dries five times faster, making it suitable for summer outdoor pursuits.

The Pinebury Summer Wool Collection features a UPF 40 rating, providing wearers with protection from UV rays during extended periods of sun exposure. The collection features a unisex sizing system.

Andy Wynne, founder and CEO of Nuyarn, explains that the company’s spinning technology drafts wool fibers along a high-performance filament, creating a structure that amplifies the fiber’s natural properties. This process results in a fine, twist-free yarn that offers various performance features.

Nuyarn’s technology uses 30% fewer raw materials and consumes less energy than traditional spinning methods. The company’s Herculan fabric repurposes an overabundant wool supply, reducing waste and promoting sustainability.

The Pinebury Summer Wool Short Sleeve Merino Wool Cycling Jersey is designed for hot weather riding, featuring ultralight 100 gsm Nuyarn merino wool fabric. The jersey offers UPF 40 sun protection and is crafted to be highly breathable and quick-drying. It costs $158.

The jersey features a slim, comfortable fit that is tailored to the body without being overly compressive, thanks to the exceptional stretch and rebound of the merino wool. The fabric is a blend of 58% merino wool and 42% nylon, with an 18.0-micron fiber diameter, making it one of the lightest weight merino wool jerseys available.

The jersey includes three reinforced back pockets lined with “Powernet” mesh to provide support and durability when carrying items. However, due to the ultralight nature of the fabric, the manufacturer recommends being mindful of overfilling the pockets to avoid sagging.

The Pinebury Summer Wool Cycling Jersey is available in unisex sizing, and the company suggests sizing up if between sizes. The jersey features UCAN Made in USA performance zippers and is made entirely in the United States.

Care instructions for the jersey include machine washing cold on a delicate cycle with a gentle detergent, hanging to dry, and avoiding ironing or dry cleaning.

The Pinebury Summer Wool Collection is now available through Pinebury’s website and retail partners, offering consumers a new option for summer outdoor apparel.
