Quality Gear With Some Pretty Cool Graphics

On my group rides and at invitationals, I see more cyclists wearing the Cycology brand each year. I’m sure you’ve seen for yourself their wild graphics, and they are definitely not for the rider who gravitates to an all-black kit. The colors and graphics are bold, making them fun to wear and more visible to drivers.

Last year I decided to reach out to the company and request media samples. After they ignored more than three requests, a first for me in eight years of writing for RBR, I thought about snubbing them. But then I figured all these riders couldn’t possibly be wearing gear just because of the funky designs; they must perform well, too. So putting my media pride aside, I ordered a sugar skull jersey and matching socks.

At $99.95 for the short sleeve jersey and $19.95 for a pair of socks, Cycology clothing is not cheap, but it isn’t crazy expensive either – it’s right in that sweet spot of pricing. So when I received my order, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of both pieces.

Same taste in design, just different colors – you have to match your bike.

The jersey fabric has 4-way stretch, and the women’s version is cut for a feminine silhouette. It’s very figure flattering. There are three rear pockets plus a zippered pocket with reflective trim to stow valuables. There’s a full-length front zipper for easy on/off with bibs and for added ventilation. A collar and SPF 50 fabric protect you from the sun during long days in the saddle. Finally, the laser-cut grippers keep the jersey in place.

Cycology also sells MTB jerseys for men and women with some wild prints. As with all MTB jerseys, the cut is looser for a more roomy fit. I purchased a few, and they were of similar quality to the road jersey.

All the items I purchased have been washed numerous times, show no signs of fading, and still hold their shape nicely.

Matchy Matchy But Never Boring

Many of the Cycology jerseys have corresponding socks to complete the kit. From the website, it looked like the skull socks would match the red version of the jersey, but when they arrived, they were more fuchsia. So I purchased the black version pictured below when I ordered an MTB jersey to avoid shipping costs.

I like the 7″ cuff, ideal for added sun protection and maximum graphic display. There are no seams, so I never had blisters or rubbing issues. I wore the socks to ride road, MTB, and gravel with zero issues. My one complaint is it is one size fits most. While the sizing was pretty good, I’d have preferred a little bit of a snugger fit.

Accessories to Further Matchy Matchy

To take your look to the next level of matchy, Cyclogy sells saddlebags, bar tape, saddle covers, gloves, hats, and neck gaiters. I have one friend who loves color, and she rolled up to a ride this summer with her, and the bike all decked out in one of the wilder and more fun patterns. You couldn’t lose her in the peloton.

Bottom Line

While I only tested the company’s road and MTB jerseys and 7″ cuff socks, Cycology apparel for both men and women is good quality and has unique, fun prints. I want to test their bibs next, but I’ll try again to see if they won’t provide a media sample. But, as you can probably guess, I have plenty of bibs and don’t need to purchase more.

Buyer beware with regard to receiving clothing from Cycology that isn’t the right size. They will accept unworn returns but you are in the hook for the cost of the return which, nowadays, starts at about $10. Not quite as customer friendly as other online retailers. And, as you found after being ignored, are not extremely responsive. Just my experience after purchasing a jersey that didn’t fit.

I have several Cycology jerseys but they have a very snug fit and you need to order one size up. They are made of really nice fabric and feel great. Love the designs!
