Coach, Author, Distance Cycling Expert
I’ve been riding for 40 years and coaching for 20. I’ve earned coaching certifications from USA Cycling and the National Strength and Conditioning Association and enjoy coaching riders with a variety of goals and fitness backgrounds.
My cycling career includes course records in the Boston-Montreal-Boston 1200-km randonnée and the Furnace Creek 508, a Race Across AMerica (RAAM) qualifier. I’ve ridden solo RAAM twice and am a 5-time finisher of the 1200-km Paris-Brest-Paris. Much of this was accomplished during my 24-year career at Stanford University, where I balanced a professional career, family and cycling.
I live in Boulder, Colorado, where I served for 12 years as Managing Director of the UltraMarathon Cycling Association and editor of UltraCycling magazine. In 2011 I participated in the International Conference on Cycling and Health in Shanghai, China.
