Review: Saris Edge 2-Bike Hitch Rack

Jim’s Tech Talk
By Jim Langley
I learned about Saris’s new Edge rack during the Sea Otter Classic event this spring. It caught my eye because it is RV and e-bike compatible and I have both. RVs pose a challenge for hitch racks because of the whiplash effect. That’s why not all racks are rated for RV use. Read more.
Learn How to Better Handle ‘It’

By Kevin Kolodziejski
It Will Improve Your Dieting, Riding, and Life
My first article for RBR about four and a half years ago began with a belief about you and me, one that I still believe as fervently as today’s title. That while we both like the comradeship, competitiveness, and considerable cal burn (provided you push it) that cycling provides, we love not only how it makes us feel, but also that it allows us to feel so much in a relatively short period of time. Is it finally time to start stretching, or is that still optional for cyclists? —Louis T. Read more.
When Does Your Metabolism Slow Down?

Many people believe that they gradually gain weight from their 20s onward because their metabolism gets slower over the years, but now it appears that this is not true. Close to 6,500 people from 29 countries, ranging in age from infancy to 95 years, were followed for more than 40 years. The researchers found that metabolism (the rate at which a person burns calories) remains stable through adult mid-life, from ages 20 to 60. After age 60 it begins to slow down at a rate of slightly less than one percent per year. Read more.
