Ebike manufacturer VanMoof has introduced two new models, the S4 and X4. Developed and improved over the course of 13 years, the new ebikes incorporate feedback gathered by VanMoof from its customers. The S4 and X4 incorporate VanMoof’s technological innovations while being more straightforward and reliable than previous models.

The S4 and X4 inherit the distinctive frame shapes of the S3 and X3, VanMoof’s best-selling models. However, the new bikes have been reengineered to provide a more streamlined and accessible experience for riders.

“One of the hardest things in life is to make things more simple. With the S4 & X4, we’ve mastered the art of simplification to make our e-bikes more accessible and reliable than ever,” said Taco Carlier, Co-founder of VanMoof.

The S4 and X4 are equipped with various features, including automatic 2-speed gear shifting, an integrated Gen 4 Kick Lock, and anti-theft technology such as onboard alarms and location tracking. They also feature a Turbo Boost for quick acceleration and dynamic motor support for a smooth ride. A built-in phone mount is included for using the VanMoof app as a dashboard to track speed, duration, and distance.

“We spend a lot of time listening to prospective riders. And what we heard clearly was the desire for our key features and iconic VanMoof design – in an e-bike that was even more simple, more accessible, and more reliable. We designed the S4 & X4 specifically to meet their needs,” said Ties Carlier, Co-founder of VanMoof.

The S4 and X4 are available in four colors: Evergreen, Sunbeam Yellow, Purple Fog, and Foam Green. They will be available for purchase on vanmoof.com starting May 9 for $2,498. Availability varies by color and region.

The company, founded in 2009 by Dutch brothers Taco and Ties Carlier, continues to expand its presence worldwide, with stores in over 20 cities and service networks across 50 cities.

Key Features

  1. Automatic 2-Speed Gear Shifting: The S4 & X4 come with an automated gear shifting system, providing a seamless riding experience regardless of the terrain or speed.
  2. Integrated Gen 4 Kick Lock: This innovative security feature enables riders to secure the rear wheel with a single tap, providing peace of mind when parking the bike in public areas.
  3. Signature Anti-Theft Tech: VanMoof’s proprietary anti-theft technology, including onboard alarms and location tracking, is integrated into the S4 & X4 models. This sophisticated system provides additional security and confidence for riders.
  4. Turbo Boost: This rider-favorite feature provides on-demand acceleration, perfect for quick getaways at traffic lights or when you need an extra push on those steep inclines.
  5. Dynamic Motor Support: The S4 & X4 offer an intuitively supportive riding experience, with the bike’s motor system dynamically adjusting to the rider’s pedaling effort and speed.
  6. Built-in Phone Mount: A practical feature that allows riders to securely mount their smartphones on the bike. The VanMoof app can then be used as a dashboard, tracking every ride’s speed, duration, and distance.
  7. Color Options: The S4 & X4 are available in four vibrant color options – Evergreen, Sunbeam Yellow, Purple Fog, and Foam Green – giving riders the chance to choose a style that best suits their personality.
  8. Price and Availability: The new models are priced at $2,498 and will be available worldwide via vanmoof.com from May 9, with different colors rolled out gradually through July.
