Today’s QT comes to us from Coach Rick Schultz, with a slight assist from me, and springs forth from an email conversation he and I had recently about bike insurance. Here’s what he writes:
Summer is here, which means that bicycle theft will be on the rise. Now is a good time to review/update your homeowners’ or renters’ insurance policy to:
a) make sure it covers your family’s bicycles at home
b) your kids’ bicycles at college
c) your bicycles while riding or traveling
Summer is also a great time to update the policy with current/new bikes, including photos of your bikes.
Make sure you also write down and store for safekeeping the important information about your bike, including the serial number, make and model, details about the components, wheels, and any extras you’ve added, and save receipts for everything. All of that information may prove useful if you’re making an insurance claim of any type. —J.M.
