Smith Amps Up The Style on Their MTB Helmets

All too often, MTB helmets come in subdued colors like black, khaki, and grey. But Smith’s new Engage MTB helmet offers six fun color options for all genders. Nope, no boring here. I opted for the matte merlot and aloe in a size small helmet for testing.

Since I was heading down to Bentonville, Arkansas, for a week of mountain biking, I figured that would be the best place to test it. The weather was in the 40s to start and by the end of the week hit 80 with high humidity. Thus it allowed me to test the Engage helmet in different conditions.

More Than Style. Safety, Comfort, and Fit, Too.

Looking rad is just one perk of this helmet. Safety, comfort, and fit are key features, too. For example, Smith uses MIPS to reduce rotational forces caused by angled impacts to your head for safety. Also, there’s the additional back of the head coverage for added protection.

When it comes to comfort, the Engage is lightweight, and the 21 vents combine with Smith’s AirEvac channels to promote airflow and prevent goggles or sunglasses from fogging. Strategically placed padding ensures added comfort and no rubbing.

Obtain a custom fit with Smith’s adjustable VaporFit for a 270-degree fit with the turn of a dial. The choice of sizes lets you find the perfect fit. The Engage is available in several sizes including small (51-55cm), medium M (55-59cm), large (59-62cm), and extra-large (61-65cm). The adjustable side straps lock into place and combine with the VaporFit to prevent the helmet from shifting while riding or in the event of a fall.

Bottom Line

At a $110 price point, Smith’s Engage helmet with MIPS is ideal for both new and experienced mountain bikers. Select from six color combinations and sizes to amp up your MTB riding this summer.
