Stylish Performance Sunglasses: Perfect for Narrow Faces
At last year’s Belgium Waffle Ride, Keegan Swenson and Sophia Gomez Villafane were sporting the ROKA San Remo AIR bright green frames as they crossed the finish line to take 1st place in the men’s and women’s pro divisions. In 2025, the company launched these new sunglasses and touted them as perfect for transitioning from cycling to running to everyday wear. I recently received a pair, and I can confirm this is true.
The San Remo AIR sunglasses are perfect for those with narrow/smaller faces like mine. Too often, cycling sunglasses overwhelm my face. Not these. Three key features make them the ideal choice. First, the semi-rimless shield isn’t oversized. Second, the company ships each pair of San Remo AIR with four different sizes of no-slip nose pads. Third, the temples have a bendable titanium core to help dial in the proper fit.
ROKA offers numerous combinations of frame colors and lens options. As shown in the photo above, I tested the Gloss Fluoro Frame with a dark carbon lens. The dark carbon lens is perfect for bright, sunny days, allowing 12% light transmission.
The semi-rimmed style has the frame only along the top of the lens, providing an unobstructed view of the road or trail ahead. Three vents along the top circulate air to prevent fogging and keep you cooler. The C3™ cylindrical 5-base optics deliver exceptional color, contrast, and clarity. Lastly, the lens has an abrasion-resistant coating to prevent scratches, while a hydrophobic/oleophobic coating repels water and oil buildup.
The TR-90 nylon high-impact-resistant frame material is super light, with the sunglasses weighing in at only 25 grams. I found the San Reno AIR sunglasses to be very comfortable, even on long endurance gravel rides.
What’s Included in the Box?
The San Remo AIR comes with a hard-shell zipper case, a microfiber bag, and four nose pad sizes. The different nose pad sizes let you select the perfect fit. GEKO™ technology on each nose pad prevents the sunglasses from slipping, even when you’re sweating.
Bottom Line
Wondering if the San Remo AIR sunglasses are for you? The ROKA website offers a virtual “try-on” feature. It works only with select frame colors, but you can still get a sense for how it fits your face. For those who wear glasses, this model is available in a prescription version.
During my testing, I found these sunglasses comfortable, the lens shield provided clear visibility of the road ahead, and the fit was perfect for my narrow face.
