British brands Restrap, a bikepacking gear manufacturer, and QUOC, a leading footwear creator, have teamed up to produce a new sandal tailored to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts and cyclists. Priced at $129.99 USD, the QUOC x Restrap Sandal, available in black and sand colorways in sizes EU38-EU47, is set to launch on May 4th on Restrap.cc and quoc.cc, as well as in select retailers worldwide.
The QUOC x Restrap Sandal, available in both black and sand colors in sizes EU38-EU47, will be available starting May 4th on Restrap.cc, quoc.cc, and at select retailers worldwide. The product claims to offer a blend of style and functionality, with notable features such as a grippy anti-slip outdoor tread for stability on various terrains, and adjustable velcro straps for a personalized fit.
The sandal is described as the “ultimate post-ride slip-on,” with a design that balances casual comfort, minimalist elegance, and functionality. The footbed is anatomically designed, providing cushioning and arch shaping. Furthermore, the sandal’s anti-slip tread is meant to be suitable for relaxation after a long day of cycling, whether at a woodland campsite or in town.
Moreover, the sandal incorporates a detachable strapping system that can be fixed around a saddle bag, facilitating easy carrying during long tours and saving space in bikepacking bags. The straps, made of extra-thick webbing and QUOC’s signature microfibre, are designed to be strong, durable, and comfortable, while also offering full adjustability for the perfect fit.
The sandal can be worn two ways – slip-on like a slider or with the heel retention for longer periods. It claims to be comfortable off and on the bike in all conditions.
Despite these features, it’s worth noting that the QUOC x Restrap Sandal is not designed as a clip-in SPD sandal. They offer comfort and practicality for post-ride and casual wear but are not be designed for long-range pedaling due to the regular sole.
Restrap and QUOC are both committed to creating quality products for the cycling community. Restrap specializes in technical bikepacking gear, producing functional, durable, and sustainable bags and equipment. In contrast, QUOC is dedicated to crafting high-performance, comfort-driven shoes that aim to redefine the boundaries of cycling footwear.
As we approach another heat wave in BC, I’d like to advocate for a COOL SPD sandal. I have Shimano PD sandals that work well but are too heavy. I also have Keen general-purpose sandals which are light and grippy, but not SPD. I don’t really want to be locked in bikepacking most of the time, but it would be nice to have a choice. My BP bike had flippy pedals, so I can go either way. There must be a way to make light but stiff grippy sandals. Maybe old-school toe clips are the answer!
