Proviz Sports Classic Cycling Vest (men’s and women’s versions): Quick Review

By Sheri Rosenbaum

Proviz Sports recently introduced their new Classic Cycling Vest in both a men’s and women’s version. This waterproof and windproof vest offers great protection from the elements, especially on cold, wet days. There are two waterproof zipper side pockets to keep valuables safe, while the drop tail keeps your backside dry.

The Classic boasts 360-degree visibility, with loads of reflective elements on the front, back and sides of the vest. The R360 technology is engineered using millions of tiny, highly reflective beads. During the day it looks normal grey in color, but when light is shining on it, it’s astonishingly reflective. The reflective elements are nicely designed into the garment to keep it looking stylish.

For added comfort on the bike, the vest material has 4-way stretch allowing it to move with you. According to the website, the material is supposed to be breathable, but I didn’t find it to have that quality. It did keep me warm and dry even against a cold north wind. But as I increased my exertion, the heat did not dissipate through the material. I’d recommend this vest for colder rides where you aren’t exerting yourself too much. I’s say it is great for commuters and cold winter rides.

The Classic vest is light weight and very packable. It compacts small enough to fit in a jersey pocket. It would also be ideal for travel when space is limited.

The men’s version is available in four colors; yellow, blue, red, and black. The women’s version comes in all the same colors with the addition of pink.

List price is $85, but Black Friday deals on the Proviz site reflect 20% off.

A cycling vest without double zipper is just “a vest”.
A vest with double zipper is “a cycling vest,” a garment whose versatility is unmatched.
