Chamois Butt’r Introduces New Product
Paceline, the makers of Chamois Butt’r recently added a 4th option to their line of anti-chafe chamois creams. It took them 5 years to perfect the formula to ensure it was gentle enough for sensitive skin, but as good at preventing chafing as their original style cream.
This new version was developed to meet the demand for an organic coconut oil product to be used by athletes as well as the growing popularity of its use in skin care and beauty products. It utilizes coconut oil and shea butter to provide deep moisturizing to reduce friction while restorative ingredients contain natural antiseptic properties which sooth already chafed skin.
Chamois Butt’r is not only used with a cycling short chamois but is also good to protect skin in additonal areas that experience friction during cycling, running or other activities (e.g.thighs, armpits, toes, and nipples).
I’m sure you are asking the same question I did, “will my southern region smell like coconuts or Banana Boat suntan lotion?” Well the answer is NO. Suntan lotions add additional ingredients that give it a beachy smell. The Chamois Butt’r has a very, very faint smell of coconut.
The key ingredients combine to provide a chamois cream that leaves no greasy residue and rinses out of your clothing and off skin easily. The coconut oil is naturally an excellent moisturizer, while shea butter, vitamins A & E condition the skin to protect any skin areas that experience friction. Restorative ingredients like aloe vera and tea tree oil contain natural antiseptic properties to soothe already chafed skin.
I had a chance a few weeks back to talk to Steve Mathews, President of Paceline Products at CABDA Midwest. We talked about their new product and he said, “Each of our products uses different ingredients and has different qualities. The reason for that is our customers and potential customers have many different skin types and sensitivities. By having 4 different creams, there is a better chance that one of our creams will be ideal for more of our customers. Some prefer Original, some Euro, some Her’. And now we have made Coconut to offer up an organic natural oil base cream for those who prefer that.”
I’ve been using the Her’ chamois cream since it was first introduced and Original before that. While I liked the coconut version and it works fine, I still seem to gravitate back to Her’. But this is just personal preference. Her’ is developed specifically for women’s pH and utilizes premium ingredients including aloe vera, green tea leaf extract, tea tree oil, shea butter, & lavender oil for their naturally occurring beneficial properties.
Currently the new coconut version is only available in the 8oz tube and should be available in single use packs sometime in May. You can purchase online or from your LBS.
