Brandon Bilyeu

Product Review Crew

Brandon Bilyeu 2015 jersey photo.WEBAfter six years of competitive cross-country and track running, my body could no longer take the constant pounding, and I had to retire from running at the ripe old age of 19.

I needed a new sport, and a friend convinced me to try road biking. I bought my first road bike in college and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I fell in love with the freedom and ability to explore vast distances, the challenge of a good climb and the following descent as a reward for my efforts. I rode recreationally and bike commuted for 10 years before the competitive itch came back.

A riding buddy persuaded me to join his cyclocross team and after a ‘cross season full of mud, pain and fun—I wanted more. I dabbled in road, track and ‘cross racing for several years in Portland, Oregon before moving to Germany in 2018.

Now I just ride for pleasure and explore the beautiful (and safer) roads of Germany and Europe.

My showers pass rain coat I got as a gift from the mrs after 20 yrs has slowly decomposed inside. At the time it was made in the good ole USA. Now Asia. I wouldn’t spend $200 again on this item, the $200 Pearlizumi from 20 yrs is holding up great( winter coat)

    Hi,
I read your article about the Sqlabs saddles. (Excellent detail)
I would like to try one of the 612R models.
My sit bones are 11.2 cm.
You said you tried the 12 model and were worried it would be to narrow.
What is your sitbone width and do you like the 12 or wish you had a 13 ?
    Thanks, Dave
