Today’s QT comes to us from Premium Member Larry Wilson, who offers a tips that remains timely as hot weather continues for many of us in the Northern Hemisphere. Here’s what he writes:
On those long rides in especially hot weather, electrolyte replacement is important. If you find yourself short of your usual source during a ride, or just want to try something different, consider Pedialyte [an electrolyte drink made especially for sick children to help them avoid dehydration when they can’t hold down food].
It is available in virtually every grocery store and drug store in the country. It comes in a variety of flavors and is easy on the stomach.
You can add four ounces to each water bottle before a ride and drink the rest after a ride as part of your rehydration. Or, if you’re running low on fluids while you’re out on the road, just stop at any grocery or drug store and pick up some.
As with anything you eat/drink on the bike, it’s best to try it before game day to ensure your stomach can handle it.
