Comfortable Full Coverage Specs Make Everything Look Better

These Pace Stage CV glasses from Uvex are so light that you hardly know you have them on and thanks to their Colorvision lens technology, everything you look at is noticeably enhanced. Plus they’re an oversize full-coverage shape for added protection and they provide 100% UVA, UVB and UVC blocking too. The company name Uvex is actually derived from ultraviolet excluded.

If the uvex name (the company has gone to a lower-case spelling now) sounds familiar right now it’s probably because in the first week of the Tour de France you saw or read about the amazing uvex-sponsored racer Biniam Girmay sprinting to two stage wins in his uvex helmet and glasses making history in the process as the first African to win a Tour stage. (He might have won a third by the time you read this.)

Girmay also relies on the uvex Surge Aero MIPS helmet, which has side vents that the Pace Stage glasses are designed to fit into perfectly. [Note: this helmet is not shown on their USA website yet.]

Along with the great view looking down the road and trail through these glasses comes excellent fogging resistance thanks to an anti-mist coating. They also tout how easy it is to clean the lens which repels moisture. I can vouch for the nice moisture shedding  – water beads up and rolls off when you spray them with your bottle.

I also appreciated the resistance to fogging up. Going out in the wee hours during the summer we often have fog off the ocean and up into the forests too. On multiple rides these glasses did not fog at all, which was great.

However, regarding the easy cleaning, I found it took more effort than I expected to wipe away sweat drips on the inside and outside of the lens. They do include a cloth bag to keep them in and that can be used to safely and thoroughly clean the lens too. Which I did successfully. It just took more wiping than I expected.

I really like how light yet secure the Pace CVs feel on the face. They only weigh 30 grams and the rubber grippers on the inside of the temples and the adjustable rubber nosepiece held them in place securely even on my roughest rides.

Overall these are high-performance and protective glasses I think you’ll appreciate for their excellent optics, UV protection and superlight feel on the face.

Features of the Uvex Pace Stage CV glasses (provided from Uvex):

  • UV-absorbing filters built directly into the lens material protect the retina 100% from damaging UV rays.
  • Uvex colorvision—that’s what the “cv” stands for—technology provides contrast enhancement and improved color perception.
  • Uvex supravision technology ensures fog free vision without affecting optical quality. (Seriously, it’s hard to fog up these glasses.)
  • Moisture and fingerprints wipe away easily thanks to a special antistatic coating on the lens surface.
  • Adjustable soft nose pads ensure a comfortable, secure, customizable fit.
