Relax after a ride in Shower Pass’ cozy and comfortable hoodie

Last month Showers Pass added to their clothing line, taking a modern twist to an old faithful garment in everyone’s closet—the hoodie. This soft merino wool hoodie is comfortable and stylish, making it perfect for relaxing with friends after a ride, lounging around the house, running errands, or on your favorite hike.

The Basecamp hoodie comes in both a men’s and women’s version in harvest (gold) or clay (rust) with titanium-colored accent stitching. The only difference between the two models is the men’s has a short front zipper. There’s a kangaroo front pocket; however, in the Showers Pass version, the front is clean looking with zippers concealing the pockets.

Zippers hide the kangaroo pocket for a clean, modern look

Additional features of the Basecamp hoodie are the longer back heam to provide extra coverage, Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) 40 for added sun protection, and a reflective logo tag on the hem. To be honest, I’m not sure the reflective label is enough to be seen when out in low light. The sleeve length is a bit longer for when reaching for the handlebars, making it an excellent option for bike commuting.

You get all the benefits of merino wool—wicking, breathability, and odor management. The garment is machine washable in cold water and recommended to dry flat. I’ve personally worn the hoodie over a dozen times and washed after every three wearings. I even stained the front with tomato sauce, and it washed right out. The company’s website says to expect 1-2% shrinkage after washing, which I didn’t encounter. However, they stated the garment would relax back to its original size with gentle stretching or regular wear.

Bottom Line

Showers Pass’ new for 2022 Basecamp Merino hoodie checks all the boxes, comfort, trendy, moisture management, breathability, and odor resistance. Whether you are running errands on the bike, lounging post-ride, or out on a hike, the Basecamp hoodie lets you do it in style.
