Two New Ultra-Portable Bike Racks
Here are two new products that I can definitely see some value in: ultra-portable bike racks.
Trunk Monkey, slated to be available in October, sells for $135 and is an inflatable rack that attaches to almost any type of automobile. The key feature is that it is imminently portable. You can pack it up and carry it on your own bike, if you like. Or store it in the trunk of your car for use as needed. Check it out here: http://trunkmonkey.co/
Allen Sports’ AL01 ultra-compact foldable aluminum rack is just a micro version of a traditional car rack. It weighs about 3 pounds, folds up to a size “smaller than a shoe box” and sells for about $35 on Amazon and at a couple of other retailers, including Wal-Mart. It, too, includes a carrying bag. Specialized Pedal Axle Extenders Recalled
This recall involves Specialized Body Geometry Pedal Axle Extenders that are used to extend the outward reach of the pedals. The Pedal Axle Extenders can break, and the rider can lose control, posing a fall hazard.
There have been 10 reports of the pedal extenders breaking, including two reports of minor injuries, involving scrapes and bruises.
They are sold in pairs and mount directly into the bicycle crank arms. Pedal extenders are made of stainless steel and fit a 9/16 inch pedal thread. They are labeled with an “L” and an “R”. The extenders being recalled were sold by authorized Specialized retailers and online at www.specialized.com from January 2009 to June 2015 for about $40.
Consumers should stop using the recalled pedal extenders immediately and return them to an authorized Specialized retailer for a full refund.

Ironman Cowboy – Just in Case You Missed It
You’ve probably heard at least a few mentions of this fellow, and his attempt to do a full Ironman triathlon in every state, in 50 days. He called it the quest for a 50.50.50.
Well, apparently he’s completed the quest. Here’s a quick-hit recap from Red Bull.
