Compact, Waterproof, and Durable

I recently started testing a new saddle, and when I tried to attach my old Topeak saddlebag, it didn’t fit. The seat was too far forward, leaving too little room to attach the bag to the rails and seat post.

Then I remembered that FIDLOCK had recently sent me their PINCLIP saddlebag to review. It took no time to unpackage everything, screw the mount to the rails, and attach the saddlebag.

FIDLOCK PINCLIP Medium Saddle Bag + Base showing Two screws secure the mount to the saddle rails
Two screws secure the mount to the saddle rails, enabling quick, easy installation.

The mount attaches to the saddle rails with two screws. Next, the bag attaches to the mount using the PINCLIP mount. Once the bag is attached, it’s secure and not going anywhere. But just in case I installed the bag incorrectly, I placed an AirTag inside the saddlebag for easy tracking if it came loose.

Detaching the saddlebag is as easy as installing it. Simply pull the tab to disengage the PINCLIP. Honestly, I’m not sure why anyone would want to remove the bag, except maybe when washing the bike or moving it to another bike.

PINCLIP Base
For someone with multiple bikes, an additional PINCLIP saddle bag base is available for $14.99 each. This lets you quickly transfer the bag from one bike to another.

I have multiple bikes and would need to buy the PINCLIP saddle bag base for each one at $14.99 each. Or I’d have to remove the mount and install it on another bike. No thanks. Too much of a hassle.

The medium-size saddlebag has 700 ml (24 fl. oz.) of storage, and fits everything I need for a flat kit: a tube, tire irons, and a mini ePump. If you’re still using an inflator and CO2 cartridges, there’s room for them, too. Need something smaller? FIDLOCK also offers a small version of the PINCLIP saddle bag for $54.99.

To improve visibility, the bag has loops for attaching a rear taillight.

A roll-top bag with a buckle closure lets you expand or reduce the bag’s volume as needed. The roll-top and waterproof fabric also keep water out on those wet rides. For added visibility, the bag includes reflective elements and loops for attaching a rear light.

Bottom Line

FIDLOCK’s PINCLIP saddle bag and base offer a secure way to carry flat kit essentials on a ride, protecting them from rain and snow. I’m impressed by the easy installation and the secure attachment point. The $69.99 price point for the medium bag is in line with other saddlebags on the market that aren’t even waterproof.
