Quick Tip: Showers Pass Crosspoint Waterproof Socks

I received a pair of Showers Pass Crosspoint Waterproof Socks several months ago and have been waiting for the perfect time to test them on the bike. Well, a week ago we went MTB in Brown County State Park. Some of the trails we took required water crossings.

I don’t have waterproof bike shoes, so figured the next best thing was to wear these socks. And glad I took them along. One particular creek crossing was pretty deep and my left foot went under the water. My shoe and sock were soaking wet, it was 55 degrees out and we still had about an hour of riding left.

When we got back to the car, my left foot felt just the same as my right foot…totally dry, warm and comfortable.

The socks are made three layers; a wear resistant knit exterior that feels like a normal sock, a waterproof breathable Artex membrane, and a Coolmax FX moister wicking anti-bacterial lining. Shower Pass uses a unique manufacturing process 3-D that forms each sock to contour to your foot. My only complaint is that it’s almost a level one workout to take the socks off. I equate it to removing a wetsuit. But because they perform so well, I have no problem with the extra effort.

Besides mountain bikers, commuters and roadies who ride in the rain could benefit from wearing these socks. As you know from past reviews, I love products that can be used for multiple disciplines. In addition to cycling, you can use them camping, hiking, fishing, running, golfing…basically anywhere you might get your feet wet.

I’m totally sold on the Crosspoint Lightweight Waterproof socks that I’ll now wear them off the bike, too. You can pair them with Showers Pass’ Crosspoint waterproof gloves which I reviewed a while back and still use them today.
