Coach Peter Wimberg

USA Cycling Level 1 Coach, ACE Certified Personal Trainer

peter wimberg.1.webWhile I don’t feel like it, I guess I’m old enough where the numbers start to add up. I’ve been riding since 1980, the year I graduated from high school, and have logged about 265,000 miles, competed in over 400 time trials in the last 18 years, ridden over 150 centuries in the last 7 years, and in general spent an inordinate amount of time on the bike. It’s amazing I’ve been married for 28 years, given this compulsion.

Just to spread the fun, I became a USAC-licensed coach about 6 years ago and  have recently attained the Level 1 certification, along with the Power Based Training and With Distinction designations. I’ve also been an ACE Certified Personal Trainer for 5 years.

The athletes I’ve worked with through CinciCyclingCoach LLC range from absolute beginners who have never ridden a bike to a rider who was on the podium at the World Cyclo-Cross Championships to riders heading out on their very first week-long tour to triathletes ranked in the top 10 in the world in their age bracket. My goal is to help my athletes reach their goals through a structured, yet flexible, and challenging, yet attainable, training plan. I still use a coach myself. It’s helpful to have someone pushing you!

RBR Contributor, Former Publisher My first 10-speed was a bright orange model from Western Auto that I got for my 10th birthday. I could hardly believe that I now had 10 different gears at my disposal! I wouldn’t be jumping ramps or riding through the creek on this baby, though, like I did on my…

Product Review Crew I started road riding in 2003 after I got a nice bonus payment at work and bought an aluminum Specialized Allez, which my son now rides. Previously, I’d only done mountain biking. I was surprised how addictive being on the road became for me. I started commuting regularly on the bike, using…

USA Cycling Coach, Product Reviewer, Bike Fitter I started bicycling as a kid. I grew up riding Schwinn BMX bikes and tinkering with them by putting motocross bars on them. That’s probably where I started my life-long interest in engineering – figuring out how and why things work the way they do, and can I make…
