3T has expanded its made-in-Italy portfolio with the introduction of the Strada Italia, a versatile road bike intended to balance comfort with aerodynamics.
The Strada Italia is manufactured in the same Bergamo factory as 3T’s Racemax Italia and Extrema Italia models, utilizing the same filament winding and Resin-Transfer-Moulding (RTM) technology that has allowed the company to bring much of its production back to Italy.
Optimized for 30mm to 35mm tires, the Strada Italia features a geometry that enables strong riders to maximize their performance, along with aerodynamic tube shapes engineered to optimize speed in real-world conditions.
Carbon Layup Technology for Enhanced Performance The Strada Italia’s frame is crafted using the same filament winding and RTM technologies as its fellow 3T Italia models, giving engineers complete control over the carbon layup process. This has resulted in a frame that significantly enhances the on-the-bike experience in three key areas:
- Reactivity: The Strada Italia’s frame is designed to provide riders with the energy return they crave when increasing the pace, thanks to its short chainstays that offer the feel of a pure racing bike.
- Handling: By balancing torsional stiffness and compliance at the headtube, 3T’s technicians have focused on the Strada’s precision when cornering, especially on fast and challenging descents.
- Comfort: The layup in the lower seat tube area, particularly in the curved aero cut-out, has been refined to provide significant engineered vertical compliance without compromising energy transfer.
Geometry and Tire Clearance for Comfort and Performance In addition to 3T’s advanced carbon technology, the Strada Italia’s fully new frame geometry ensures that more riders can achieve their optimal aerodynamic position and maximize their performance. The ability to accommodate 30mm to 35mm tires (actual width) also contributes to the bike’s comfort on rough roads, while reducing rolling resistance and improving efficiency.
Aerodynamic Design for Real-World Conditions
3T has pushed the boundaries of the new UCI regulations on frame shapes to maximize the Strada Italia’s aerodynamic performance. The headtube features a deep yet narrow profile for optimal aerodynamic efficiency, while the downtube has been developed to shield water bottles. These design elements, combined with deeper and thinner frame profiles, create a complete aerodynamic package.
The Strada Italia is designed specifically for electronic groupsets and adopts the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) system. As with other models in the Italia family, the frame includes a small transparent section in the 3 and T logos on the downtube, showcasing the beauty of the carbon fiber weave. A “Ready to Paint” version is also available for riders who prefer to customize their frame.
