Whats a Diabetic to Do?

Q:  I’m 43 and have been diabetic since the age of 13. My health is good and my diabetes is under control. However, I can’t find information about cycling and sports for people in my situation. Can you help? — Michel L.

COACH FRED:  There’s an excellent resource at http://www.livestrong.com/diabetes-and-exercise/, run by the Diabetes Exercise and Sports Association (DESA).

You might also check at your local bike shop or club to see if they know of physicians experienced in working with diabetic riders in your area. Your local medical organization or college is another source of information.
