We’ve assembled a team of medical professionals and experts — all of them with a keen interest in our sport — to address the issues in your questions. Your health matters, and we’ll do our best to provide information RBR readers can use to improve and enjoy cycling even more.

We use reader questions, and answers from our experts, in the weekly RBR Newsletter, and in the Health Matters section under Health.

We welcome new questions, and we also encourage you to use the great Search functionality of our site (upper right corner of the page) as an additional step toward finding what you’re looking for. You can also narrow your search using the Tags at the bottom of each article.

You’ll be amazed at how much great info we’ve got for you on these pages.

  1. Dr. Mirkin. My urologist is recommending the urolift procedure for my BPH. I am a cyclist who rides 150 to 200 miles per week. My urologist says that my cycling will be fine after the surgery. I am concerned that all the pressure from the saddle might not be good after this procedure, due to the implants there. What do you think? Do you know cyclists who have had this? Any comments about this procedure in general? Thanks.

  2. Selle SMP (and others, too) make bike saddles that are specifically designed to relieve pressure on the perineum / prostate area.. I have just had Urolift, and have just installed one of these saddles on my bike (it took 5 minutes).
