This week’s Question of the Week is back to a Winter theme – with so much of the country having been mired in the deep freeze for several weeks.
How Do You Train or Work Out When the Weather Keeps You Off The Road?
Expert road cycling advice, since 2001
I’m 75 years old. I take spinning classes at the gym. When they’re over I do some machines for my arms & upper back (curls, tricep pull downs & rowing. I also do leg presses with heavy weights. I’m a big guy & can do leg presses using all the weights. I do 4 sets of 25 reps resting 1 min. between sets, then work to exhaustion by doing a final set of between 5 & 10. I also do planks & back extensions. I do this 3 times per week. I also ride whenever it’s 20+F & the roads are clear, and when I ride I skip the gym.
